CAs urge BC government to align budget rules with accounting standards
Chartered Accountants of British Columbia press for reform to make the budget process transparent and accountable. They propose adopting CICA standards for public sector reporting, independent policy reviews, full disclosure of deficits, a long range financial plan, and external standard setting through CICA rather than internal Treasury Board processes. The Budget Process Review Panel, chaired by Doug Enns, is due to present by Sept 30, 1999.
