Western in final phase of Wolverine mine assessment
Western Canadian Coal held its second open house in Chetwynd on the Wolverine metallurgical coal project located between the Bullmoose and Quintette mines about 25 kilometres from Tumbler Ridge. The company outlined two stage environmental review, with public comments sought May 27 to August 9, and potential construction starting later this year with production aimed for mid 2006. Local residents raised concerns on wildlife, caribou habitat, and a compensation plan for a Guide-Outfitter, while noting Dillon mine in Burnt River area bypassed full public input due to smaller scale.
