Pickets confront non union workers at Gainers Inc. and Fletcher's Fine Foods in Edmonton. Six Gainers protesters are arrested after a bus is assaulted with paint eggs and rocks as about 300 demonstrators block entry. Fraser promises LP harvesting licence and regional roads boost
Acting Premier Alex Fraser says Louisiana Pacific will receive a pulp harvesting licence this week after hearings in Dawson Creek. He also acts as buddy minister for South Peace River, announcing numerous road and paving projects including 46.2 km on Highway 2, 8.1 km on the Hart Highway, 9 km on the Alaska Highway plus 23 km Heritage Highway rebuilding and related grants.

The Chetwynd Chamber of Commerce met June 3 at the Little Swiss Inn chaired by Ian Campbell. Community selected Regional Hospitality Award recipients included Cherie Pulver and others for contributions to tourism and local hospitality. School District 59 speakers discussed work experience and entrepreneurship programs starting in grade 8, including an incubator concept.
