Tougher air quality standards on the way
Premier Glen Clark and Environment Minister Cathy McGregor announced BC will adopt the strictest vehicle emission guidelines in North America for Clean Air Day. The plan targets 70 percent emission cuts by 2001 and 80 percent by 2004 with zero emission vehicle development, aiming to reduce hospital visits and illnesses in the Vancouver area.
