Hydro Power Line To LP Reid Nears Completion
BC Hydro outlined the Hart Highway to the new pulp mill near Chetwynd project. Spurris noted fall 1989 approval, five local contractors hired, and costs around 300000 to 400000 with 60000 stumpage fees. A protest from Lone Prairie prompted a costly alternate route avoided by using horses and helicopters. Norlite won a 565000 contract for footings and the Sukunka substation will serve the line with tenders in June or July. Power delivery to the pulp mill is expected by late October with timing on schedule.
