Three researchers map BC fur trade fort life from 1799 marks
Dr. Knut Fladmark, Dr. Arthur Ray, and Dr. Charles Bishop, each receiving a $300,000 BC Heritage grant, will compile archival and archaeological data on the first trading fort on the BC mainland. They study a site inhabited before 1799 and abandoned around 1805, using journals by unknown authors and David Thompson to locate and interpret remains of a fort with a store, hangard, and living space for fifteen men, four women, and five children.
