Weed control program scrapped by regional district
Dawson Creek BC Peace River Regional District will drop weed control next year in protest of the provincial government's failure to fund and direct weed management. The district demands confirmed budgets and staff direction, and continued provincial recommendations on where control is needed. It cites a 1996 spend of 284000 with a 45000 grant cut, urging farmers to pressure Minister Corky Evans to restore the program.
