Reforestation Plan Links Mills to BC Forest Futures
West Fraser and other mills rely on BC forests prompting a 50 million silvicultural program from 1979 to 1984 with 11.5 million for backlog reforestation. The 1981 plan targets 43 percent restocking annually, while West Fraser details 485 hectares of planting near Chetwynd and Commotion Creek. West Fraser expands with a Quesnel nursery and a 5 million seedling yearly goal in 1983, as the Ministry of Forests uses computer models to forecast supply and guide harvests.
