Quarantine Lifted as Mange Outbreak Is Controlled
A sarcoptic mange outbreak in the Upper Peace region led to quarantines on seven beef herds by the Federal Veterinary Inspection Operation. All herds were treated and declared free after using a portable spray dip machine funded by a Horned Cattle Fund grant. The equipment remains in the Peace for future use. The program aims to prevent reinfestation with a second spray after 10 14 days. Ranchers celebrate the end of quarantines and anticipate business as usual. The piece also notes a university continuing education program for retirees, detailing courses, locations, and registration.
