Curtis Mounsey a 17 year old Chetwynd resident finishes grade eleven at Chetwynd Secondary School and works a second season as a mechanics helper to learn small engine repair while pursuing an apprenticeship. Heather McKinnon from Victoria spends months in town to gain hours for Compsun College program and enjoys Radio and Television work at 94.5 Chet FM before advancing her career and volunteering with environmental and children causes.

Student Summer Works Program overview BC youth employment
Student Summer Works is one of 12 Youth Options BC programs under a provincial initiative to create work experience and skills training for British Columbia youth and improve access to post secondary education. It helps students earn money while gaining career related work experience and employability skills, whether still in high school or in post secondary studies, with wages shared by the BC government and participating employers.
