Chetwynd celebrated its 25th Banquet and Dance with over 500 attendees. John Jackman and Tom Lazenby catered the roast while Dixie Lee provided fine food. The hall showcased 25th souvenirs, a Heritage Society quilt, past council members, and a large white cake by Eva Gerstal. Alderman Bob Shirley hosted, with Frank Oberle delivering a touching address about home and politics in Chetwynd.

Run for Light a real success in Chetwynd
Chetwynd's Run for Light drew about 150 participants with a four year old girl on a trike among hikers. Shopper Food Mart donated juice and IGA supplied oranges for runners. Arvene Diddier provided warm up music, Lorne Dalkie donated 100 dollars of the 300 dollar torch cost, and a fireworks finale closed the event. The drive raised 351 dollars for the Canadian National Institute for the Blind in Vancouver.
