BC Hydro will hold a community open house in Fort Nelson to review options for increasing efficiency and output at the Fort Nelson Generating Station. The plant currently meets much of local demand, with potential gains of nine to twelve megawatts from a more efficient turbine unit.
BC Hydro spokesperson Bob Gammer says a proposed station could run cleaner by using less water and emitting fewer pollutants. Alternatives include more Alberta backup power, duplicating the current plant, or linking the station to BC See.
