Chetwynd General Hospital to keep acute care in community role

Northern Health Authority announced Chetwynd General Hospital will become a community hospital retaining five acute care beds for acute palliative and planned respite care. Mental health public health and home nursing services will be added as space allows to improve coordinated care and reduce costs. Mayor Lasser welcomed the plan while noting a two year review and potential alternatives.

Chetwynd Hospital Keeps 24/7 Status Praised

Mayor Charles Lasser announced that the Northern Health Authority will keep Chetwynd Hospital open around the clock. He credited consultant Jim Saunders for viable options, thanked MLA Blair Lekstrom and board member Lorne Dalke, and commended doctors and staff for preserving the town’s quality of life.

Sawchuk discovers BCs first dinosaur bone bed

In Tumbler Ridge British Columbia Wayne Sawchuck discovered the province's first dinosaur bone bed near Tumbler Ridge. Twenty bones exposing a site dated 95 to 97 million years old include Ornithopod remains. Researchers from the University of Alberta The Exploration Place Prince George plan excavation.
