Chetwynd community aids avalanche stranded motorists
Amid a Pine Pass avalanche that trapped travelers in the Peace region, Chetwynd residents and businesses mobilized quickly. Pomeroy Hotel hosted teams from across the province, offered a special rate, fed guests, and organized a pizza party while Lakeview Inns and Suites provided reduced rates. Local emergency services and the visitor centre assisted, and nearby businesses stayed open late to supply food and fuel as residents praised the community spirit.
