Environmental green light for Wolverine Mine project
Western Canadian Coal received an Environmental Assessment Certificate for the Wolverine Coal Mine located 25 kilometres west of Tumbler Ridge near the Wolverine River. First Nations participation, health and socio economic concerns were addressed, with noted job and regional economic benefits. The plan targets 1.6 million tonnes of clean metallurgical coal annually for 11 years, with about 180 million dollars in capital needed for site prep, coal plant, rail load out, and pre production stripping.
