Mayors unite to oppose B C transfer cut plan
Local mayors across British Columbia vow to stand together against the NDP government 113 million in transfer payments cuts. A Jan 23 emergency Union of B C Municipalities conference in Vancouver planned a Day of Protest at the Legislature opening. Mayor Charlie Lasser led calls to remain united and pressure Victoria to reverse the cuts. Lenore Harwood of Hudson's Hope called the session worthwhile as councils prepare further action and public briefings.
