Phone company fixes Hudsons Hope exchange overload
BC Tel will install equipment this week to resolve a persistent phone problem in Hudsons Hope. An emergency test at the medical clinic showed that when more than eight lines are used in the 99 hundred exchange, all other lines ring busy. The system serves the municipal office Peace Canyon Dam and the school, which uses eight internet lines. Over 31 listings share the 99 hundred exchange, causing blockages. Larry Parker blames old equipment and multiple business lines for overload. New gear will add 100 more lines with ten reserved for internet use, and a full upgrade is planned later this year.
