Chamber protests tax on meals and high gas prices in Chetwynd
At a recent Chetwynd Chamber of Commerce meeting, a motion was approved to write to the Minister of Finance and the Minister of Tourism protesting a proposed 6 percent provincial tax hike on restaurant meals. The chamber also planned letters to M L A Jack Weisgerber and other chambers, arguing the tax would deter tourism. The group cited high gas taxes in the area, noting 24.32¢ per litre in tax on gas and 20.82¢ per litre on diesel, and urged action to keep British Columbia affordable for visitors.
