Chetwynd Hosts Australian Exchange Students Visit
Three Australian youth exchange students Tanya Henderson Kymme Flanagan and Alison Whitely arrived in Canada December 7 for a six week Lions and Lioness Clubs exchange visiting Edmonton Tumbler Ridge and Chetwynd. They shared winter impressions met local hosts toured facilities and enjoyed ski village outings before heading to Dawson Creek for the final week and departure to Australia.

Heart Foundation to stage Annual Fundspiel weekend
Chetwynd BC Heart Foundation unit reports fundraiser February 21 to 23 with Friday and Saturday events including Can-Can dancers from Ft. St. John and a midnight Piñata. Sunday hosts a pancake breakfast with sponsors Chetwynd Motor Inn and Dixie Lee. Main event is Saturday banquet. Preregistration prize draw planned. Possible appearance by Mr John McKeady of BCTV Sports. Prizes include helicopter trips and an Edmonton package with Oilers tickets. Rink fee set at 80 dollars covering games banquet dance and chances. Last year raised 3300 with 44 rinks. similar or better expected. Canadian doctors seek cyclosporine AIDS study approval
In Canada a Toronto General Hospital team and a Montreal group seek Health Canada approval to trial cyclosporine for AIDS patients. About 30 patients would be treated in a pilot study with funding from Medical Research Council Ontario Health Ministry and Sandoz Canada.

Rodeo Ground Committee seeks Expo funded multipurpose building
Denise Gardener represented the Rodeo Grounds Management Committee at the regular district council meeting outlining a proposal for a multi use indoor riding and horse boarding facility on the Rodeo grounds. Increases in Family Allowances Raise for 3.6 Million Families
Health minister Jake Epp announced a January rise in Family Allowances to 31.58 from 31.27 per month for children under 18 in most provinces. The increase reflects inflation above three percent. Alberta and Quebec have opted to vary provincial rates for 1986. Terri Brandmueller.
