Little Prairie Elementary Fire Destroys School
A Monday February 21 1994 blaze at Little Prairie Elementary near 1:00 am left the 60 percent finished school under water of flames. Firefighters fought until 9:00 am amid freezing conditions and a vented 500 gallon propane tank. Official estimates place damage over 3 million with plans to file an insurance claim. About 350 students would have attended in September 1994. Rebuilding may start in April depending on weather as investigators from the Regional Fire Commissioner probe the incident under 24 hour security.
