Chetwynd General Hospital implements a recycling plan with C.A.R.E.S. volunteers and Eco Centre to cut solid waste by 50 percent by 2000. Paper products and cardboard are recycled with confidential material shredded. Depots at local facilities operate Fridays and Saturdays.
In 1997 ICBC saw 405 road fatalities the lowest in 23 years while total claims topped one million for the first time. On an average working day 4,009 claims were filed, including 168 against at fault drivers and 851 for property damage. Daily claims also covered medical costs 250, collision claims 888, comprehensive 705, glass 833, plus other losses totaling 250. The 12 month total reached 1,002,266 losses.
