HD Mining asks unions to drop court fight for talks
HD Mining International sends an open letter dated February 7 to Mark Olsen and Brian Cochrane urging CSWU Local 1611 and IUOE Local 115 to drop the federal court challenge to 201 Temporary Foreign Worker permits and join in dialogue about an MOU with Northern Lights College and training plan reviews. Unions question sincerity and say the letter offers no real dialogue while a judicial review is set for April. The BC Federation of Labour criticizes Labour Minister Pat Bell amid debate over reform of the Temporary Foreign Worker Program.
