Quality Wind seeks environmental review for B C wind farm
Quality Wind entered the environmental assessment stage for a northeast British Columbia wind project covering 5000 hectares near Quality Creek and Tumbler Ridge. Plans call for up to 120 turbines generating 100 to 200 megawatts. EPCOR says the altitude location may aid viability and wildlife friendliness.

Wind project eyed with bird impact concerns near Peace River
Jay Shukin says the project may have less impact on birds due to siting though studies must confirm it. The environmental assessment will cover wildlife water quality and fisheries and run about a year with early community consultation and First Nations input. If approved, a power purchase bid to B C Hydro is needed and construction could start by late 2009. Wayne Hiebert notes five wind projects are under development in the area and warns noise and intrusion may affect local tranquility though remote sites offer potential economic benefits.
