Major changes to British Columbia schools outlined
Education Minister Tony Brummer announced a plan to inject nearly 3 billion dollars into British Columbia schools over the next decade. The reforms follow a royal commission led by Barry Sullivan and aim to implement new education policies. Brummer noted one point four billion will be spent in the first decade to carry out the changes.

Multiple charges laid after Chetwynd disturbances in 1989

30 hour famine aids hungry across Canada
In over 200 schools and churches youths prepare for a 30 hour famine February 17 18 1989 to raise funds for world hunger. World Vision Canada aims to exceed half a million dollars for immediate food aid and long term development while Bangladesh floods and a 1988 typhoon devastated agriculture.

Rescue Truck Fund Drive Boosts Community Support
Rescue Committee has raised 7250 for a new rescue truck donated by West Coast Energy. Donations come from Chetwynd Forest Industries, Lioness Club, BP Canada, Sukunka Glass, and others. A Giant Rescue Auction Sale February 25 at 1 30 pm at Chetwynd Fire Hall, run by BJ's Auction Services and John Franks, will auction goods to fund the project.
