Local autonomy in British Columbia education defended by teachers
The Peace River South Teachers Association urges continued local control of school districts, arguing provincial bargaining would distance decision making from communities. They note that local boards tailor programs to geographic and demographic needs, affecting class size, special needs, facilities, and program support, with parents and taxpayers retaining local influence. The Dawson Creek, Tumbler Ridge, and Chetwynd locals support ongoing local input.
