Chamber Light-Up Contest Encourages Holiday Participation
The Chamber of Commerce sponsors the Light-Up contest urging residents and businesses to keep decorations lit during the holidays. Judging occurs between Christmas and New Years. Nominations for Citizen of the Year are due December 28, sent to Box 1000 Chetwynd BC. Tickets for Civic Night on January 14 can be reserved from Larry Tuck.

Chetwynd Elementary Band Debuts With First Concert
The Chetwynd Elementary Secondary School Band gave its debut concert on December 15 under band teacher Gary Jonson. Selections included 1st Chorale For Band and La Renaissance with 26 Grade 8, 14 Grade 9 12 players, plus 16 in small ensembles. Tim Trask helped with several pieces as the audience praised the performance.

Postal facilities will be closed throughout British Columbia on Christmas Day December 26 December 27 New Year s Day and January 2. BP Coal explains Sukunka project plans in Chetwynd meeting
BP Coal officials led by G Armstrong outlined the Sukunka coal project at a December 12 meeting in Chetwynd with Village Council and district representatives. They described stages to first coal in about 22 months, a mid March finish for detailed planning, and a 700,000 long ton coal supply to the processing plant with 900,000 destined for shipment after washing.
