Geothermal group says Site C review overlooked energy option
The Canadian Geothermal Energy Association claims BC Hydro’s 2013 EIS undervalued geothermal power by omitting any geothermal projects in two proposed portfolios. Geothermal option urged as BC Hydro Site C alternative
CanGEA argues BC has many geothermal sites with strong potential and, with streamlined permitting, could submit proposals to produce power for BC Hydro. The group claims geothermal is cost effective with low footprint and capacity benefits, criticizes its omission in Site C debates, and urges a formal review of geothermal costs before final Site C decision.
