Grants in lieu of municipal taxes to 60 BC towns
Sixty British Columbia municipalities will receive 2.12 million dollars this year as grants in lieu of property taxes on provincial land and buildings. The City of Victoria gets 980,676. Vancouver 704,733. Saanich 181,000. Grants exclude school and hospital taxes and come under the Municipal Aid Act 1981.

Turn sod for seniors complex in Chetwynd
On December 10 1981 a sod turning marked the start of Little Prairie Haven a senior citizens complex in Chetwynd funded by the Provincial government with 642 000 and a remaining 354 000 to raise. The project includes twelve large units two accessible and a large recreational room with completion planned for July 1982.
