Newsprint Shortage Hits Some Canadian Dailies
A Canadian Press survey shows only British Columbia and Alberta papers feeling newsprint supply strains from early July mill strikes. Most papers stay steady as prices rise, with B.C. forest workers’ shut down driving costs to about 900 a tonne. The Columbian cut page count to 24 from 28 to conserve stock while awaiting shipments.
