Update on British Columbia construction cost index

The British Columbia Construction Association released its first Construction Cost Index noting monthly material price shifts. Steel price increases push up metal decking studs doors and rigid conduit while reinforcing steel costs rise from supply shortages and a past labour dispute. Lumber prices ease as demand stabilizes and plywood levels off. Copper prices are rising globally, with copper products in mechanical and electrical divisions expected to climb due to a worldwide shortage. A felt and asphalt shortage may push future prices higher as well.
