Wage gap sparks forest industry strike in B C
British Columbia forest workers face a province wide strike as tradesmen press to restore a 40 cent an hour wage gap to 1974 levels. The Forest Industry Trades Association says 10 000 skilled tradesmen seek higher pay while unions resist. The dispute centers on a 26 percent two year offer and a separate 40 cent trades premium.
