Creative Peace 2008 workshop brings wider creative paths
The Terry Lansdowne Foundation launches Creative Peace 2008 in Chetwynd and Tumbler Ridge from August 15 to 17 at Gwillim Lake Pat O'Reilly Centre. The three day event expands from last year’s Writing and Walking Sticks to include visual art, performance, environment talks, and health workshops, with Riding Thunder Dancers and sessions by Dr Charles Helm and Joyce Lee. Organizers aim for about 200 attendees from the Peace Region and beyond, offering full weekend or daily options and health minded activities.

Fort Nelson lands 400k for greener recreation center
Fort Nelson will expand and upgrade its multi use recreation facility with a max 400000 Towns for Tomorrow grant. Mayor Chris Morey says the funding backs a greener complex, including a bridge between two buildings, a new Zamboni room and a 190 ton refrigeration plant with a snow melt system for energy recovery to heat and supply hot water. The project supports a future swimming pool and aligns with provincial green goals.
