Vanereal disease surge and tuberculosis in Peace River Health Unit
The 1972 year report shows a 38 percent rise in gonorrhoea cases to 586, highest in the province, with factors including attitudes, education gaps, contraception use, and social issues. Delinquency, substance abuse, and broken homes contribute to VD rates. Tuberculosis remains unacceptably high with 18 new or reactivated cases in 1972, linked to malnutrition, housing, and overcrowding in the area.
