Plans include May 10 17 1986 Expo week with Miss Chetwynd Expo 86 and street dance. Next meeting Sept 26 at 7:30.
NLC lists a 16 hour Red Cross Standard First Aid course August 13 and 14 from 9 to 5 in Chetwynd, plus a Water Colour Workshop with Gordon Henschel August 17 and 18. A CPR Heartsaver is planned for Sunday August 25. Psychology 220 Interpersonal Communications and Community Counselling certificates expand this fall with autumn courses and a call for instructors. watch for the new calendar and register soon.
The BCR caboose beside the Chamber of Commerce Tourist Bureau holds a guest book with signatures of 380 visitors to date. It contains artifacts donated by BCR, locals, and anonymous donors, including tools, a first aid kit, maps, a razor strop, a wrench, farm implements, and a handmade quilt. The Junior Chamber of Commerce presents two plaques. Please contact the Chamber to donate items for display.
The Chamber reports higher tourist traffic this year with increased traveler guidance and widespread economic impact. Officials note busy offices advising routes and attractions and announce ongoing planning for next year, including hospitality seminar courses.

Beginning July 31 the tourism counsellors will salute Canada and BC trading partners by dressing in native costumes each Wednesday for five weeks. Weeks feature California Japan England and Hawaii themes with outfits reflecting trading partners. The program includes 8 hour courses for employers and staff, Expo Committee plans a Trapper Cabin replica, and promotions with Powder King to attract skiers to Chetwynd.
The University of British Columbia and Shanghai Jiao Tong University sponsor a private tour for 25 executives plus spouses. Pre arranged private meetings with Chinese financiers and officials, factory visits, and briefings on free trade zones and joint ventures. Registration deadline September 10.
