BC Health Minister releases AIDS test results and projections
Health Minister John Jansen announced the AIDS antibody test results from 102,347 conducted over four years ending December 31, 1989. Of 3,587 positives, 2,662 were homosexuals or bisexuals and 709 AIDS cases have occurred since 1983 with 422 deaths. He cautioned that positives do not equal cases and urged targeted prevention and a consultative strategy with high risk groups and youth.
