Graduated Licensing Arrives in British Columbia
ICBC will roll out the Graduated Licensing Program on August 1 to reduce new driver crashes. Prospective drivers 16 and older must pass knowledge and road signs tests plus a vision screen, with a six month Learner stage and an 18 month intermediate phase ending in a five year class five licence. Restrictions include zero blood alcohol, a New Driver sign, a two passenger limit, and driving only between 5 am and midnight. Some changes begin May 4 with a 90 day Learner stage and phased implementation.
