Chetwynd Council OKs tourism contract transfer and reviews plans

The April 4 council session adopted March 21 minutes and moved to sign over the tourism contract from the Chamber of Commerce to the Northern Lights College Career Group. A lease for the tourism building with the Chamber was approved, and a request to use the old forestry building for self advocates was tabled. The five year plan advances with a guidelines meeting set, and tax boundary changes aim to adjust residential taxes without touching industrial taxes. Councillor updates covered street naming, grants study, rail service discussions, housing plans, and funding options. A busy agenda included bids, council attendance, seniors housing goals, and environmental and community outreach items.
