Road map supports trucking shift for BC economy
The B C On The Move plan highlights trucking as vital to BC GDP, with 2 percent of GDP, 40 000 jobs, and 72 percent of imports moved by trucks. It aims to ease congestion widen Highway 97, address avalanche risks, and add rest areas and two new truck parking sites to attract new drivers amid a projected 2 200 to 4 500 driver shortage by 2020.
