Canadian Team Aborts North Pole Trek After First Ice Encounter
Hank Krawczyk spoke at a March 28 library meeting about the aborted expedition to the North Pole. The team including Jack McConnel and Tim Everson found sleds unsuitable for snow and open water, frostbite injuries worsened, and they chose to retreat after four weeks on Ward Hunt Island. They plan to try again next year with improved equipment and support.
