Halifax reports another accident at the Hudson Bay terminals as the dredge Nelson, towed from Toronto, breaks from moorings near Nelson River. It may be badly damaged and repair is unlikely at Port Nelson, delaying terminal construction and prompting the call for a replacement dredge when navigation opens.
In Mahone Bay on November 3, Captain Enos Wentzell’s three children Mildred twelve Dorothy five and David eight found gunpowder in a wooden attic box. They touched off a train blowing the box through a window and igniting clothes. Mildred and David suffered burns to face hands and chest with Dorothy’s face hands and hair burned. All are recovering.
