OTTAWA May 29 The Senate has passed more divorce bills in this session than in any year during the past ten, if not since confederation. Of 302 applications 249 recommended, 6 rejected, 5 withdrawn, 42 not dealt with. 207 from Ontario, 42 from Quebec. petitions from 98 husbands and 151 wives, 75 occupations. 114 cases forgave Parliamentary fees. Expect fewer cases with Ontario divorce court opening this year. roughly 75 next year.

Request to Try Anti and Posselt in U S A
In Georgetown on Wednesday morning the third session of the preliminary hearing heard that officials of the United States seek to have the trial held in the native country of the accused. Attorney General Campbell said ship’s crew become amenable to local law once in harbor, giving U S courts jurisdiction. The American Consul urged sending the prisoners to the United States for trial, but Campbell found no method to do so and asked for a one week remand. Sunter testified he saw Anti and Posselt in the forecastle before the shooting and Posselt peered out before reentering. Defence counsel Mathieson argued for dismissal against Posselt, noting insufficient evidence linking him to injury or death. Anti’s statements exist but the charge remains. The case was adjourned and the prisoners remanded for one week.
