In Memoriam John Neil McLeod Dies at Cumberland Hill

Dundass mourns the death of John Neil McLeod at seventy three after a brief illness. He leaves a sorrowing widow and seven sons and three daughters including Neil J and Elliott R of Seattle and Alex Sterling of Vananda. A Presbyterian elder, he supported the Liberal Conservative party for thirty years and a large funeral was held April 27 conducted by Rev. McGowan. Pallbearers included Norman Mc Swain Allan McDonald James Duncan and others.

Effort Made To Have Injunction Rescinded

In St John New Brunswick on May 25 a notice of motion was served asking the Supreme Court chancery division to rescind or vary an injunction that bars seizure of liquor brought to St John. The motion targets the chief inspector and the attorney general with Montreal firms McIntyre Ltd and J J Bradley as respondents.

Moncton New Brunswick May 26 Ralph Oblen a 19 year old lad was sentenced to two years in the penitentiary by Judge Steaves for a serious crime involving two young schoolgirls.

Prime Minister Meighen Visits Fredericton

Sir Arthur Meighen Canadian Prime Minister visited Fredericton on May 25 and was greeted by Mayor Reid with an illuminated address and a bouquet for Lady Meighen. He becomes the first Canadian premier to visit since 1887 before departing by private car toward Ottawa.
