Victoria B C May 12 Canada will declare an absolute embargo on importation and transport of all parrot species after representations from the British Columbia Department of Health which is conducting systematic efforts to control fever threats and protect public health.

The Corran Bann Subdivision Catholic Women's League met Sunday April 27 with Mrs. John R. McIntyre chairing. Officers were elected including President Mrs. John McAulay and Sec-Treasurer Mrs. W. A. McDonald. The secretary reported a year of fundraising, mass for souls in November, Christmas gifts, and church improvements totaling funds of $325.66 with $252.75 spent and $73.11 balance. The group pledged continued support for the motto For God and Canada. Also noted is the death of Alfred E. Coffin of Vancouver, with biographical details and surviving relatives.
Miss Florrie Cairns of this city departed yesterday morning to visit relatives in Boston. Mr and Mrs James Paton plan an extended trip to the Old Country visiting London and Paisley Scotland. Mr and Mrs Lews Sherry and Ivan of Summerside spent Sunday in Charlottetown as guests of John Lawlor. Mrs L A Hynes returned Saturday by train from Rockland Maine where she was called by her mother's illness. Friends of Mrs L Hartin formerly of this city learn of her critical illness in Rockland Maine.

The late Mr. Coffin, a respected Vancouver resident, served churches and choirs, led the Orpheus Male Choir, and held V A A and company roles. He enjoyed deer hunting and visited Head of Hillsboro in 1911 with family. Survived by wife, two sons Charlie and Fred, and two grandchildren. funeral at Mt Vernon Lodge.
