Conservatives win three Ontario by elections keep Ferguson govt
Three Conservative candidates aligned with the Ferguson government were elected in Ontario by elections. Foster Moffatt won South Bruce by about 1,800 over M A McCallum, William Morrison led East Hamilton over Currie Gardner by 1,100 and over John Hodgson by 1,500, while E A Dunlop won North Renfrew over Paul Martin by a large margin. Seats were vacated by McCallum's court removal, Leeming Carr's resignation to sheriff, and Alexander Stuart's death. Government then held 77 Conservatives, 21 Liberals, 11 Progressives, and 3 U F O in a 112-seat Legislature.
