Frenchman Rescued After Seven Days Tormented by Flies

James Belanger, a French man from Byng Inlet, wandered nine miles east of French River, Ont., for seven days after losing work and money. He set out to walk back to Byng Inlet, became lost in the rough terrain, and endured starving conditions. His clothes were torn and his face and hands were lacerated by black fly bites. he survived by killing a porcupine and eating nothing else.

Boston Strike Halts Surface Railway Traffic

After a night of total suspension due to a strike by several thousand workers, the Boston Elevated Railway Company resumed service on all surface elevated and tunnel lines, though car numbers were reduced. Disorder was reported during the delay period lasting about two and a half hours.

Archbishop Bruchesi Bans La Lumier Reading in Churches

In Montreal on June 9 a pastoral letter from Archbishop Bruchesi was read throughout the Archdiocese urging rejection of La Lumier. The letter condemns a monthly review that ridicules church traditions and warns Le Pays editor M. L. A. to align its policy with Catholic teachings. Le Pays has pushed educational reform and opposed by the church.
