Washington commentary notes a vast bootleg operation diverting 7 to 20 million gallons of government licensed industrial alcohol. It argues prohibition uses methanol to render non potable mixtures and critiques enforcement, denaturation policy, and alleged government complicity with smugglers.

Messrs Webster and Roy McNeill visited Georgetown weekend with Mrs Yorston and Miss MacDonald. Hughie Gillis Inspector of Dredges and George Yorston also spent time in Charlottetown and Georgetown. Various locals including Mrs Timmons and Miss Winnifred MacDonald travelled to or from Georgetown for family visits and hospital events.
An advertisement touts Catarrhozone inhaler as pleasant and certain with no medicine to take. It lists pricing: $1.00 large, 50 cent smaller, 25 cent trial, and claims availability at all dealers nationwide.
Nine members and twelve visitors met at Mrs. Michael Handralian's home for the February gathering. Roll call paid five cents. whist proceeds of $25 were donated. They planned six window shades and a map of Prince Edward Island for the schoolroom and closed with the National Anthem and a lunch. Next meeting at Mrs. Walter Rogerson's home with five cent roll call.
A lively debate between Marshfield and Pownal Young People Societies, in the United Church, argued for consolidated schools as the Province considers reforms. Will Gibson led Marshfield with Dennis and Ferguson. Raison Smith, Enman, and MacEachern argued the negative with statistics on costs and transportation.
In a spirited debate held in the Dominion era, Mr Gibson of Marshfield argued for consolidated schools while opponents failed to show financing or transport solutions. Willie Gibson earned best debater honors, with Edison Smith as alternate and Hazel MacEachern praised for her speech. The event closed with a social hour at the Forrester Hotel.
On February 12 the Cable Head West Women’s Institute met at Mrs Billie Mc Laren s home. Creed opened the meeting. eight members attended. Discussion covered storm windows for the schoolhouse and purchases of a water bucket. Secretary to buy the bucket and arrange another meeting at Mrs R McKenzie s house.
March meeting includes an address to Mrs. McLaren in her new home and a gift from the Institute. Visitors draw lottery tickets for a comforter, with winner Milburn Keenan of Wood Islands, P E I. The program features recitations and readings by Mrs. McLaren Miss Hattie Simons Jennie Richards Laura Simons Joe Simons and a cake guessing contest followed by a social lunch.
