Canadian Press report from York on February 7 states a committee of the Western Railwaymen voted almost unanimously for a strike. The action would involve about 30,000 railway workers and halt operations across 52,000 miles of track, signaling a major disruption in Canada’s rail network.
A Lemnos despatch reports a Greek aviator and captain flew a hydro aeroplane 180 kilometers over the Dardanelles. The reconnoissance of the Turkish fleet followed by four bombs dropped on the arsenal at Mardos near the Gallipoli peninsula.
London Ontario February 5 Peter B. Dlson M P for West Middlesex is seriously ill following a stroke of paralysis.

Washington Feb 5 The Alaska Railway Commission reports to President Taft that more than one extension railway will be needed to open Alaska resources. The commission notes several available routes from the coast into the interior but makes no definite recommendations on route choices.
The Phot Course program led by James Simpson featured Miss Lottie Houston, Phillie Callum, and Sword Dance, Bagpipe and Highland singing numbers. Local citizens received thanks for support while Horace Haszard and ex-Mayor Paton spoke. the event closed with God Save the King.
London February 5 The Chancellor David Lloyd George and First Lord of the Admiralty Winston Churchill quit the Reform Club after Maurice De Forest was blackballed. The Express says Churchill pressed for a general meeting to reverse the action, with Sir Howard Grey and Lewis Harcourt threatening to resign unless corrected. De Forest, a hereditary Austrian Baron, is said to be operating under royal authority in the United Kingdom. The report notes a separate 1909 prize offer by De Forest for Britain’s first aviator to cross the English Channel in a British aeroplane.
In St John New Brunswick on February 15 authorities said the proposed West Indies steamers may carry only delicious fruits as freight to and from Boston while passengers may be carried through the port at all times. F B Williams and Halifax delegates pressed the Boston call with Minister George Foster. only two tenders were received and few ships will be built if approved. London Feb 1 The King and Queen held their first court for the season tonight at Buckingham Palace. The ceremony opened with the royal couple receiving diplomats and dignitaries as officials announced the start of a new cycle of engagements.
The Y P A of Central Christian Church held a Birthday social at the K P Hall in Charlottetown last evening. Proceeds surpassed $50. The program featured piano duets by Frances Moore and Margaret Hegan, vocal solos by Percy J. Stanley Kathleen Moore Gertie White and others, readings by Mrs Gough and D Edgar Shaw, and a dialogue by four girls. Refreshments followed.
Ethel MacKenzie wife of MacKenzie Goron, a San Francisco concert soloist and clubman, files in the state supreme court to test federal law on citizenship by marriage. She says the act that strips a woman of citizenship upon marrying an alien does not apply since she has not lived outside the United States and seeks a mandamus to compel voter registration after suffrage victory.

Entries mention a sausage vendor, a half-price short horn breed, a girl for general work, gold rimmed spectacles, help wanted for a family, a brig girl with education, purebred Plymouth Rock chickens, and a young man for collections. Col H H McLean Liberal MP for Queens Sunbury New Brunswick challenged Liberal leaders in the House of Commons. He urged three dreadnoughts, said Canada cannot build them, and proposed cross party support for Borden’s naval aid plan with British expert advice and a plebiscite. He said he remains Liberal but will take his own stand on this issue.
Washington February 6 Dr Emil Krulish of the public health service predicts the extermination or drastic decline of Alaska natives within fifty or sixty years due to tuberculosis and other diseases introduced by whites He urges a larger rescue effort with more physicians and field nurses to teach natives hygiene and law of health

At the Colorado Senate in Denver Senator John Hecker urged that twenty women drink whiskey to every man, following Mrs. Helen King Robinson's rebuttal of a Washington newspaper story. Robinson denounced the remark as insulting and threatened to demand Hecker’s removal if repeated.

St John N B Feb 7. A blaze began in McLean and Holt's foundry on City Road and spread to Edgecombe Carriage Factory. About 1000 dollars damage to the foundry and 3500 dollars to the carriage factory. Both properties insured.

New York Feb 5 The police graft case quickens with Eugene Fox confirming levying tribute for superior officers. District Attorney Whiteman and Justice Goff plan to convene the extraordinary grand jury tomorrow and subpoena a police inspector named by Fox, aiming to reach the officials higher up in the department.

Madrid Feb 5 King Alfonso of Spain will not visit the United States. The Lord Chamberlain stated the King has no such intention and that personal interest in America would have prompted a voyage if feasible.

London Feb 5 The Austro American Shipping Company reports a Vienna despatch saying it will not cut passenger rates between Trieste and Canada to avoid spurring emigration. The rate stays at 165 kronin while Canadian Pacific lowers to 140.
Washington reports ongoing disorder in southern Mexico despite peace negotiations with the Zapata rebels. Four thousand miners walked out at Santa Gertrudis and Lablanca near Pachuca, turning violent. An American manager at Santa Gertrudis ranch shot amid attacks, killing two and wounding one. Rural guards deployed. Rebels burned Gradieria estate in Zacatecas belonging to President Madero’s family.
Fredericton Feb 5 The first fatal accident in the St John Valley Railway construction occurred today. Bertram Kelly 28 a Kingsclear sub contractor died from a premature explosion his body thrown about 160 feet his death was instantaneous and his employer found him deceased at the scene.
