Also offers overshoes leather halters boots and Hessian horse bugs at reduced prices from Sinclair Stewart Limited. A bank visit and a Chevrolet car purchase are noted.
A memorial window is planned for All Saints Cathedral Halifax to honor Nova Scotians and Prince Edward Islanders killed in the great war with a $25 initial gift noted. The window by a renowned firm will be a major work placed behind the Holy Table in a space honoring unity and the cross and linking to the sacrifice of the ages.
Mr James Hughes of Bedford recently finished a new house and was surprised January 17 by friends presenting an address and a parlor lamp. The event featured Mr Trainor as chair, readings by J A Burge, and thanks from Mr Hughes. guests enjoyed dancing, supper by Mrs Hughes, and well wishes for happiness and community upbuilding. Lt. Col. J. L. Ralston writes to Peter Hughes of Charlottetown P E I detailing the death of his son Private R. M. Hughes No 8204010 with the 85th Canadian Infantry Battalion Nova Scotia Highlanders. He fell October 26 in action near Mons after shrapnel wound to the abdomen. The letter expresses sympathy and notes the battalion's pride in the son and itsCanadian Corps record.
An anniversary celebration on January twenty third marked twenty five years for Mr. Colixte Arsenault and Mrs. Arsenault. Relatives and friends filled the home for whist, music, and speeches, with gifts presented by their children and attentive remarks from local guests. Grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Frank Arsenault attended as well. First prize went to John Arsenault and Yvonne Richard, second to Camille Berard and Mrs. Emmanuel Cormier, with a consolation prize to Alcide Gallant and Louise Bernard.Music by Alfred Richard and daughter Yvonne accompanied the evening.
Prohibition Inspector Barbour traveled from Charlottetown on Monday on official business. Miss Annie Cameron of Summerside School staff spent Sunday visiting friends in Charlottetown.
On a Friday evening Farmington friends gathered at Stephen MacDonald’s home to honor Robert Curran returning from years in the army. An address read by Margarette Driscoll and a $10 gold piece presented by Marle Wood marked a proud homecoming with poems praising duty and liberty.
