Montreal December 15 The suit opposing the famous marriage annulment that split Eugene Hebert from Emma Marie Clouatre under the Ne Temere decree moves to a final stage today. Arnold Wainwright, Mrs Hebert’s attorney, will argue that between 1764 and 1866 there was no law obliging Catholics to marry before church authorities, so non Catholic ministers could not be restrained. If legal the marriage stands. if illegal, the minister—not third parties—should be punished. The core of the argument is presented.
In Montreal on December 14, N. Curry of the Canadian Car and Foundry Company reports rapid growth in car building despite a prohibitive tariff harming Dominion interests. The firm’s 1911 output is about 12.5 million dollars with orders totaling 10 million for 1912, and a projected annual production between 16 and 17.5 million dollars by year end.

In Jackson Georgia on December 15 Will Turner a Black preacher was hanged for the murder of Jesse Singley a white man last August. The execution was moved from the jail to the opera house to avert race trouble and occurred on the stage before few witnesses as a large crowd gathered outside.
Kingston Ontario December 5 The body of William Coleman a Halifax man killed while working on the N. R. has disappeared. After the inquest the body laid unclaimed as there were no relatives in this part of the country. It was alleged the remains were buried in Catarqui cemetery but it never reached there or found in nearby cemeteries.
Ottawa report says Rollie Norman met in the capital and will add four or five local hockey players to his Moncton list. They depart next week. Norman sought a visit by the Ottawas to Halifax and Moncton next month, but President McGee declined, saying they could not spare the time.

Ottawa December 15 Immigrant settlers total 281,898 arrived in Canada April 1 to December 1 of the current fiscal year. Of these 180,206 came to ocean ports and 101,692 from the United States showing a 16 percent rise versus the same eight months last year. November arrivals reached 16,065, with 7,946 at ocean ports and 8,119 from the United States, compared with 15,296 and 8,089 respectively a year earlier.

Ottawa December 15 The annual report of the Department of Naval Service summarizes operations since its inauguration last fiscal year. It covers naval, fishery protection, tidal and hydrographic survey and wireless branches, including Halifax Naval College, Rainbow and Niobe operations, cadet training, and recruitment figures totaling 223 recruits plus 21 cadets, with provincial manpower distribution across Nova Scotia Ontario Quebec Prince Edward Island New Brunswick and British Columbia.
Ottawa reports that Hindus in Canada may bring their families under tight rules, with $200 and continuous passage from India still required.
