Cree Chiefs Placed on Trial for Murder

In Hopeens Bay, August 10, two Cree chiefs John and Joe Padjequan go on trial for murder. The case follows government action to end belief that delirious fever possession by windigo justifies killing. The chiefs allegedly strangled the girl, wife of one of them, in tribal ceremony before hundreds of Indians. The tribe reportedly killed twenty others similarly.

Guardian's Bicycle Road Race Date Set in Charlottetown

The Guardian's bicycle road race is fixed for August 28 with entries restricted to Prince Edward Island riders. The event awards The Guardians three year trophy, plus gold and silver prizes from local sponsors and merchants. The 16 mile course starts at The Guardian office in Charlottetown and winds along Grafton Street Great George Street Upper Malpeque Road and Park Roadway back to the start.

Carnegie Drafts Half Million Gift to British Hospital
